NFL: Chicago 34, Detroit 7

DETROIT, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Kyle Orton racked up a career-high 334 passing yards Sunday and guided the Chicago Bears to an easy 34-7 victory against the Detroit Lions.

Orton finished with 24 completions in 34 passes. His scoring passes, both in the second quarter, helped the Bears build a 17-0 halftime advantage.

Rashied Davis made six receptions for 97 yards. Matt Forte scored once on the ground and also caught Orton's 12-yard touchdown pass.

Despite losing a fumble, Devin Hester scored once after five receptions for 66 yards.

Tight end Greg Olsen made three receptions for 87 yards, and Robbie Gould kicked two field goals Bears (3-2), who have won two in a row to take over first place in the NFC North Division.

Detroit quarterback Jon Kitna completed just 8-of-16 passes for 74 yards.

Backup Dan Orlovsky went 13-for-23 for 97 yards and one interception and running back Kevin Smith scored the lone touchdown the winless Lions (0-4).
