COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Alejandro Moreno's ninth goal this season led the Columbus Crew to a 1-0 victory against Los Angeles, running its season-high unbeaten streak to eight games.

The Crew (16-6-5) clinched the Supporters' Shield for the best regular season record in Major League Soccer.

Moreno scored on a header to the lower left corner from the center penalty area in the 43rd minute after an assist by defenseman Danny O'Rourke.

The Galaxy (7-12-8) has just one win in their last 15 matches despite the presence of international stars David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Eddie Lewis. The trio has played intermittently because of commitments to their European clubs.

Saturday's loss means LA will miss the playoffs a third straight season.
