
LOGAN, Utah, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Max Hall threw for 302 yards Friday, almost half of them picked up by Austin Collie, leading No. 7 Brigham Young to a 34-14 win over Utah State.
The Cougars scored 24 points in the first period and coasted to their fifth win in as many games this season.
Hall threw 75 yards to Collie for a touchdown the first time BYU had the ball and Brandon Bradley quickly boosted the Cougars' lead by picking up a fumble and returning it 38 yards for a score.
Mitch Payne added a 44-yard field goal and Harvey Unga scored on an 11-yard run before the first quarter ended.
Hall also hit Collie with an 11-yard scoring pass in the third quarter. Collie caught eight passes for 132 yards.
Utah State fell to 1-4, scoring both its touchdowns in the final quarter.
