Georgetown football game postponed

Published: Oct. 2, 2008 at 9:11 PM

WASHINGTON, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Georgetown officials announced Thursday an infection sweeping the campus had forced the postponement of Saturday's football game with Colgate.

"Because several members of the team have been infected and others have been exposed, and because the infection is contagious, after discussion between medical personnel at both universities and with Colgate's athletic administration and the Patriot League, the decision has been made not to play the game," said Georgetown Athletic Director Bernard Muir. "A makeup date has not been reached at this time."

Colgate has a 3-2 record and is 1-0 in the Patriot League. The Hoyas are 1-3, 0-2.
