
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Sabine Lisicki and Magdalena Rybarikova each won second-round matches Wednesday at the $145,000 Tashkent Open tennis tournament in Uzbekistan.
Lisicki, seeded fourth at the hard-court tournament, won 7-5, 6-1 over Alexandra Panova while Rybarikova, seeded fifth, defeated Vesna Manasieva, 6-1, 7-5.
In other second-round play Wednesday, Raluca Olaru came back for a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Ksenia Palkina and Urszula Radwanska stopped Sofia Shapatava, 7-5, 6-2.
In the tournament's final first-round match, Arantxa Rus advanced at the expense of Vlada Ekshibarova, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Rus moved into a second-round match Thursday against top-seeded Shuai Peng.
A pair of Friday's quarterfinals was set with Lisicki paired against Radwanska and Rybarikova scheduled against Ioana Raluca Olaru.
