PHOENIX, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- The Arizona Cardinals announced Wednesday receiver Anquan Boldin has a sinus fracture and that the team was unsure when he could return to action.
Boldin, the fifth leading receiver in the NFL this season, suffered a helmet-to-helmet collision with Eric Smith of the New York Jets in the final moments of a game last Sunday.
The NFL ruled Smith hit Boldin while he was in a defenseless position. Smith was fined $50,000 and suspended for one game.
Boldin had to be carried from the field on a stretcher and was held in a hospital overnight before returning to Arizona.
Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald have made up what has been by far the leading receiving tandem in the league this year. Combined they have caught 51 passes for 781 yards and seven touchdowns.
Fitzgerald is third in the league with 415 receiving yards and Boldin is fifth with 366.
