Wozniacki advances in Japan Open

TOKYO, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki, the top seed, was a first-round winner Tuesday in the Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo.

Wozniacki dropped the opening set but fought back to earn a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory over Gisela Dulko of Argentina.

Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic upset the No. 4 seed, Russian Maria Kirilenko, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Shahar Peer of Israel, seeded No. 6, moved on with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Kimiko Date Krumm of Japan.

Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak, the eighth seed, outlasted American Jill Craybas, 7-5, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3.

Others advancing included Camille Pin of France, Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium and Rika Fujiwara and Ryoko Fuda of Japan.
