SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Tim Lincecum yielded a run and four hits in seven innings Sunday in San Francisco's season-ending 3-1 victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Lincecum (18-5) may have enhanced his chances for winning the NL Cy Young Award, walking two batters, striking out a career-equaling 13, and throwing 73 of his 103 pitches for strikes, while limiting the Dodgers to a second-inning RBI double by Andre Ethier.
Nate Schierholtz, Randy Winn and Pablo Sandoval each drove in a run for San Francisco. Schierholtz and Eugenio Velez had two hits each for the Giants, who won twice in the three-game series, but finished the season with 90 losses.
Ethier had two of the six hits for the NL West champion Dodgers, who face the NL Central champion Chicago Cubs in the National League Division series.
The losing pitcher in relief was Chan Ho Park (4-4).
