MLB: Pittsburgh 6, San Diego 1

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Jason Michaels and Adam LaRoche drove in two runs each Sunday when the Pittsburgh Pirates recorded a season-ending 6-1 win against San Diego.

Michaels hit a two-run eighth-inning double, while LaRoche hit a solo homer in the fourth and an RBI double in the ninth.

Steve Pearce hit a solo homer in the fourth. Luis Cruz also had one RBI, while Andy LaRoche added two hits for the Pirates, who lost 95 games and finished last in the NL Central a second straight season.

The winner was reliever Tyler Yates (6-3), the sixth of seven pitchers.

San Diego, which lost 99 games this season, scored its lone run on Brian Giles's third-inning double.

Chase Headley had two of the six hits for the Padres, who split their last four games and finished last in the NL West.

The losing pitcher was reliever Wade LeBlanc (1-3).
