MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Scott Baker and two relievers pitched Minnesota to a 6-0 win over Kansas City Sunday that kept the Twins atop the AL Central, a half-game ahead of Chicago.
The White Sox also won, 5-0 over Cleveland, and have one more game, a makeup contest against Detroit Monday. If the Sox win, they'll meet the Twins in Chicago Tuesday in a one-game playoff for the division championship. If Chicago loses to Detroit, Minnesota will have its fifth American League Central title in seven years.
The Twins had lost two straight to the Royals after sweeping a three-game series against Chicago.
Baker (11-4) scattered four hits and struck out nine batters over seven innings.
Jose Mijares and Joe Nathan each pitched a scoreless inning in relief for the Twins, who got a two-run triple from Joe Mauer and an RBI double by Denard Span.
Brandon Duckworth (3-3) gave up two runs and two hits in six innings and took the loss for Kansas City.
