MILWAUKEE, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- CC Sabathia pitched a four-hitter for Milwaukee, which beat the Chicago Cubs 3-1 Sunday and won the wild card playoff berth in the National League.

Milwaukee's win, its sixth in seven games, combined with the New York Mets' 4-2 loss to Florida, gave the Brewers the wild card spot.

Sabathia (11-2), making his third straight start on three days rest, walked one batter, struck out seven and threw 81 of his 122 pitches for strikes.

Ryan Braun's two-run eighth-inning home run was the big hit in Milwaukee's win over the Cubs.

The Brewers' Craig Counsell had driven in a run by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.

Chicago's run scored on Ronny Cedeno's second-inning groundout.

Aramis Ramirez and Ryan Theriot both had two hits for the NL Central champion Cubs, who lost three of their last four regular-season contests.

The losing pitcher was reliever Bob Howry (7-5), the last of seven Chicago pitchers.
