The game winner came off a pass by Mehdi Ballouchy and vaulted the Rapids (10-12-4) into second place in the Western Conference, one point ahead of Chivas USA, which had yet to play Kansas City Saturday night.

Omar Cummings and Mike Petke scored the other goals for Colorado.

The loss dropped the Red Bulls (9-9-8) into fourth place in the East, six points behind Chicago, which did not play Saturday.
