MLB: St. Louis 8, Cincinnati 5

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Todd Wellemeyer yielded three runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings Saturday, helping the St. Louis Cardinals record an 8-5 victory against the Cincinnati Reds.

Wellemeyer (13-9) helped himself with a fourth-inning RBI single.

Troy Glaus had two hits, including a two-run second-inning homer, Felipe Lopez and Albert Pujols hit solo homers and Ryan Ludwick had two hits and one RBI in the Cardinals' second straight win.

Cincinnati's Jerry Hairston Jr. had two hits, one a ninth-inning two-run homer, and three RBI. Corey Patterson had two hits and scored three times in the Reds' fourth loss in a row.

The losing pitcher was starter Aaron Harang (6-17).
