ATLANTA, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Sergio Garcia posted a 3-under 67 Saturday to take a three-stroke lead through the third round of the PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta.
Garcia finished 54 holes at 8-under 202. Overnight leader Anthony Kim (72) and Phil Mickelson (69) were tied for second at 205 heading into the final round.
Garcia was paired with Kim Saturday in a rematch of the opening singles match last week at the Ryder Cup. On that day, Kim beat Garcia, 5-and-4.
Camilo Villegas (69) is in fourth place at 207 and Ben Curtis (68) and Robert Allenby (67) are tied for fifth at 208.
This is the final event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs and is merely a formality for Vijay Singh (72-219). If Singh can complete his final round Sunday, he will be the FedEx Cup winner and earn $10 million.
The winner of this championship will come in second for the FedEx Cup and earn $3 million.
