SEATTLE, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Vladimir Guerrero's second homer of the game put Los Angeles in front in the ninth inning Thursday and the Angels went on to defeat Seattle 6-4.

It was the 99th victory of the year for the Angels and the 101st loss for Seattle.

The Angels will open the playoffs next week by taking on the eventual wild-card team -- likely the Boston Red Sox.

Guerrero hit a solo homer in the sixth and then broke a 4-4 tie with a two-run shot in the ninth off J.J. Putz (6-5).

Jose Arredondo (10-2) got the win by throwing 1 2/3 innings of one-run relief.

Scot Shields worked the bottom of the ninth for his fourth save.
