The Angels maintained a two-game lead over Tampa Bay in the race for the best record in the American League and home-field advantage in the ALCS.
Los Angeles rallied from a 5-2 deficit thanks to a 16-hit attack. The Angels tied it with a three-run sixth, two of the runs scoring on a double by Sean Rodriguez.
Teixeira then hit his 33rd homer of the season in the eighth, a long blast that just stayed fair down the right field line. The home run came off reliever Mark Lowe (1-5).
Darren Oliver (7-1) threw two hitless relief innings to get the win and Francisco Rodriguez warmed up for the playoffs by boosting his record save total to 62.
