MILWAUKEE, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A grand slam homer by Ryan Braun with two out in the 10th Thursday gave Milwaukee a 5-1 win over Pittsburgh and kept the Brewers tied for the wild-card lead.
Milwaukee and the New York Mets both have 88-71 records heading into the last three games of the season, with New York trailing Philadelphia by a game in the race for the NL East title.
Milwaukee will close out its season with three home games against the Chicago Cubs and the Mets will be at home against Florida. Bad weather could affect the Mets-Marlins series.
Pittsburgh tied the game in the fourth on a homer by Steve Pearce and it remained 1-1 until Braun's blast, his 36th of the season.
With Jesse Chavez (0-1) on the mound, Rickie Weeks opened the 10th with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice by Jason Kendall. Pinch-hitter Ray Durham was intentionally walked and Mike Cameron struck out.
Craig Counsell then drew a walk to load the bases and Braun hit a 2-2 pitch over the wall in left-center.
That made a winner out of Mitch Stetter (3-1), who recorded the final out in the top of the ninth. Stetter was the eighth Milwaukee pitcher of the game.
