MLB: Detroit 7, Tampa Bay 5

DETROIT, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Ramon Santiago hit two of five home runs Thursday and Detroit hung on for a 7-5 victory against Tampa Bay, snapping a six-game losing streak.

Santiago hit homers in the bottom of the first and third innings off starting and losing pitcher Scott Kazmir (12-8).

In all, he had three hits and scored three times.

Also hitting solo homers were Mike Hessman in the fourth, Dusty Ryan in the fifth, and Curtis Granderson in the seventh.

Marcus Thames hit a two-run double and Miguel Cabrera hit a sacrifice fly, both in the seventh.

Thames had two hits for the Tigers, who had lost 12 of their previous 13 games.

The winner was starter Armando Galarraga (13-6).

Closer Fernando Rodney earned his 11th save.

Tampa Bay's Ben Zobrist hit two homers, one a first inning solo shot, the other a three-run blast in the eighth.

Evan Longoria hit a solo homer in the seventh for the Rays, who could have locked up the AL East.
