
ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Hank Blalock hit a two-run homer in the seventh inning Tuesday to deliver the Texas Rangers a 6-4 victory over the Oakland Athletics.
Marlon Byrd also drove in two runs for the Rangers. Milton Bradley was 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run.
Texas starter Dustin Nippert lasted 6 1/3 innings and surrendered four runs on six hits but got a no-decision. Jamey Wright (8-7) earned the win after getting the final two outs in the seventh.
Travis Buck had a two-run homer for the A's, who only have two losses over their last 10 games. Jack Cust added a solo homer in defeat while Cliff Pennington drove in the other run.
Josh Outman, making the third start of his career, received a no-decision after giving up three runs on 10 hits over six innings. Alan Embree (2-5) was charged with a blown save and the loss after giving up all three runs in the seventh.
