MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Jason Kubel's two homers and three RBI Tuesday helped the Minnesota Twins to a 9-3 win over the Chicago White Sox that narrowed the gap in their division race.
Delmon Young was 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI for the Twins, who trail the front-running White Sox by 1 1/2 games in the American League Central. Nick Punto and Carlos Gomez each had two hits and an RBI.
Scott Baker (10-4) got the win after giving up just one run on five hits in seven innings.
Ken Griffey Jr. hit a two-run homer for Chicago, which has lost four of its last six games. The home run was No. 610 for Griffey, moving him ahead of Sammy Sosa into sole possession of fifth place on the all-time list.
Javier Vazquez's (12-15) gave up five runs on seven hits in four innings.
