BOSTON, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Kevin Youkilis hit a two-run homer and Jason Bay a key RBI single Tuesday to carry the Boston Red Sox into a post-season berth with a 5-4 win over Cleveland.

Dustin Pedroia had two hits and the other two RBI for the Red Sox, who earned a spot in the playoffs for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Boston is 2 1/2 games behind leader Tampa Bay in the American League East.

Tim Wakefield (10-11) got the win, allowing six hits and four runs over six innings. Jonathan Papelbon recorded the final four outs to earn his 41st save.

The Indians had a seven-game win streak end. Cleveland starter Cliff Lee (22-3) took the loss, his first since July 6, as he was charged with nine hits and five runs over seven innings.
