LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Rich Aurilia's 11th inning single Sunday produced the lone run in San Francisco's 1-0 victory against LA Dodgers.
With the teams locked in a scoreless tie, Aurilia's only hit knocked in Brad Hennessey from third base with two outs in the top of the inning.
Eugenio Velez had three hits and Aaron Rowand two for the Giants, who had dropped five of their previous six games.
The winner was Sergio Romo (3-1).
Closer Brian Wilson, the last of four San Francisco pitchers, earned his 40th save by striking out two of the three batters he faced in the bottom of the 11th inning.
Starter Matt Cain surrendered five hits in six scoreless innings with four walks and four strikeouts.
Andre Ethier had two of the five hits for the NL West-leading Dodgers, who, despite the loss, maintained their 2 ½ game lead over Arizona.
LA starter Derek Lowe gave up five hits in seven scoreless innings with three walks and seven strikeouts.
