Hunter hit a three-run homer in the first and Los Angeles appeared on its way to an easy win when they piled up a 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the third.

Texas, however, roughed up Matt Harrison for nine hits and nine runs in the inning. Chris Davis hit a three-run homer to finish off the frame.

Los Angeles closed within a run in the fourth and then scored five times in the fifth, an inning keyed by a two-run double from Mark Teixeira.

Darren Oliver (6-1) halted the Texas outburst in the third and got the win by pitching 2 1/3 innings. Scot Shields earned his third save.

The loss went to Jamey Wright (7-7), the second of six Texas pitchers who allowed five runs on six hits in just one inning.
