MLB: San Francisco 7, LA Dodgers 1

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Bengie Molina hit a home run and drove in four, while Barry Zito and San Francisco handed the Dodgers a 7-1 defeat in the first of a three-game set.

Despite the defeat, the Dodgers remained 3 1/2 games ahead in the NL West after Arizona lost to Colorado 3-2 Friday.

Zito (10-16) gave up just one run on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings for the win, his fourth in five decisions.

Also for San Francisco, Pablo Sandoval hit two doubles, scored two runs and hit a pair of RBI.

The Giants snapped a four-game skid.

Greg Maddux (7-13) gave up seven runs on nine hits in five innings for LA, which was coming off a 7-3 road trip.

Pablo Ozuna accounted for the Dodgers' only run with a homer.
