OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Daric Barton's RBI pinch single in the eighth inning Saturday gave Oakland an 8-7 win over Seattle.
His hit snapped a 7-7 tie, scoring Carlos Gonzalez from third base with one out in the bottom of the eighth, extending Seattle's losing streak to nine games. Barton, who did not start because of a non-baseball related injury, was batting for left fielder Aaron Cunningham.
Jeff Baisley had two hits and four RBI. Rob Bowen's only hit was a two-run double in the sixth. Three players finished with two hits and Bobby Crosby scored three times for the Athletics, who have won seven of 10.
The winning pitcher was closer Huston Street (7-5). Brad Ziegler earned his 11th save.
Seattle's Kenji Johjima had two hits, one a two-run homer in the sixth, and four RBI.
Bryan LaHair hit a two-run second inning homer. A Seattle run scored on Yuniesky Betancourt's third-inning, double-play groundout. Three other Mariners had two hits.
The losing pitcher was reliever Justin Thomas (0-1).
