PHOENIX, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Adam Dunn singled in Conor Jackson with two out in the eighth to put Arizona in front Thursday and the Diamondbacks went on to down San Francisco 3-2.
Arizona won its fourth straight contest and stayed within 3 1/2 games of division-leading Los Angeles in the National League West.
Diamondbacks starter Randy Johnson allowed a run through seven innings, but Juan Cruz came on in the eighth and surrendered a game-tying homer to Bengie Molina.
Tim Lincecum (17-4), having given up two runs on six hits through seven innings, was allowed to stay on the mound in the eighth and he retired the first two Diamondbacks.
Jackson, however, singled to right, stole second and scored on Dunn's single to center on a 3-2 pitch.
Cruz (3-0) got the win despite allowing the Molina homer and Chad Qualls worked a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
