NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Miami Heat forward Michael Beasley has been fined $50,000 or his involvement in an incident at the league's Rookie Transition Program earlier this month.
The fine also was levied for his initial failure to cooperate with a NBA investigation.
Beasley left Kansas State after only one season when he was the third freshman in NCAA history to lead the nation in rebounding, averaging 12.4 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot-9 inch native of Washington also finished third in the nation with his 26.2 points per game scoring average.
Former Kansas University teammates Mario Chalmers of the Heat and Darrell Arthur of the Memphis Grizzlies previously were fined, and have been ordered to reenter the program next year.
League officials discovered evidence of marijuana use and female guests in their New York-area hotel room on the eve of the four-day symposium in New York.
Women guests are strictly prohibited, but no evidence of marijuana use has been uncovered.
Chalmers and Arthur have denied the marijuana allegation.
