CHICAGO, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Derek Lee's 12th inning single Thursday led to a 7-6 Chicago Cubs' victory against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Cubs rallied back from a 6-3 deficit when Geovany Soto's three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth produced a 6-6 tie and extra innings.
Jim Edmonds and Aramis Ramirez hit solo homers.
Like Edmonds and Ramirez, Mark DeRosa had two hits for the NL Central-leading Cubs, who have won six of their last seven games.
The winner was Kerry Wood (5-4), the last of seven Chicago pitchers.
The closer worked two innings, striking out three of the six batters he faced.
Chicago reliever Jeff Samardzija yielded four sixth inning runs.
Milwaukee's Ray Durham, J.J. Hardy and Corey Hart all had two hits and one RBI.
Three others knocked in one run for the Brewers, losers in nine of their last 10 games.
The losing pitcher was Carlos Villanueva (4-7).
