

GUANGZHOU, China, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Jill Craybas and Karin Knapp each picked up second-round upset wins Wednesday at the $175,000 Guangzhou International Women's Open tennis tournament in China.
Craybas took out sixth-seeded Olga Govortsova 6-2, 7-5 by cashing in four of the nine break changes she backed Govortsova into. Knapp topped eighth-seeded Mariya Koryttseva 6-4, 6-4 behind five service breaks.
Top-seeded Vera Zvonareva had her first-round match and won 6-1, 6-2 over Anastasia Rodionova in dominating fashion. Fourth-seeded Shuai Peng, a local favorite, also won a first-round match Wednesday, stopping Mara Santangelo 6-4, 6-2 in the hard-court tournament.
Other first-round matches Wednesday saw Camille Pin advance over Yan-Chong Chen, 6-2, 6-3 and Tamira Paszek defeat Lee Ya-ra, 6-0, 6-4.
