Griese to start for Tampa Bay Sunday

TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Tampa Bay announced Monday veteran Brian Griese will again start at quarterback for the Buccaneers Sunday in Chicago.

Griese started in this past Sunday's win against Atlanta as Jeff Garcia was still suffering from an ankle sprain.

Griese, 33, went 18-for-31 with 160 yards, one touchdown and a lost fumble against Atlanta in the Bucs' 24-9 victory.

"I thought (Griese) did a nice job really," said Tampa Bay Coach Jon Gruden. "We had the one turnover late in the football game. He managed the offense. He made some great decisions in the running game. We won the football game. I thought he was solid. I thought he played pretty good."

Griese spent his previous two seasons with Chicago before rejoining Tampa this past off-season. In his two seasons with the Bears, he played in 13 games, including six starts and completed 179 of 294 passes for 2,023 yards and 11 touchdowns with 14 interceptions.
