COMMERCE CITY, Colo., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Omar Cummings scored on a long-range shot for Colorado, which got two first-half goals Sunday in a 2-0 Major League Soccer win over the Chicago Fire.

Cummings took a pass from Terry Cooke and fired the ball past Chicago goalkeeper Jon Busch in the 37th minute.

The other Colorado score came seven minutes earlier when Busch inadvertently knocked the ball into the net for an own goal.

The Rapids (9-12-3) play New England Saturday and Chicago (11-8-5) goes against Dallas Sept. 21.
