PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Pat Burrell's RBI single Sunday lifted the Philadelphia Phillies past the Milwaukee Brewers 7-3 in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.
Burrell's second hit of the game snapped a 3-3 tie with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. Shane Victorino's three-run homer, also with one out, capped a four-run rally.
Ryan Howard had two hits, one a sixth-inning, two-run homer, for the Phillies, who closed within two games of the National League East-leading New York Mets with their third consecutive victory.
The winning pitcher was reliever Scott Eyre (4-0).
Starter Joe Blanton surrendered three earned runs and five hits in seven innings.
Milwaukee second baseman Ray Durham launched a first-inning, two-run homer. Mike Cameron hit a solo shot in the fifth and three others had one hit for the Brewers, who have lost six of seven.
The losing pitcher was reliever Guillermo Mota (5-6).
Starter Dave Bush yielded three earned runs and five hits in six innings.
