MLB: Los Angeles Angels 4, Seattle 3

ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- A ninth-inning RBI single by Chone Figgins gave the Los Angeles Angels a 4-3 win Sunday over the Seattle Mariners.

Figgins hit a drive off the right field wall to score Sean Rodriguez, who had tripled with one out in the bottom of the ninth.

The Angels swept a four-game series and have won seven of their last eight contests.

Mark Teixeira hit a solo homer for Los Angeles, which has clinched first place in the American League West.

Ervin Santana allowed two runs over seven innings but reliever Jose Arredondo (9-2) ended up with the win for pitching a scoreless ninth.

Roy Corcoran (5-1) took the loss for Seattle, which has lost five of six.

Jose Lopez had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for Seattle.
