TEMPE, Ariz., Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Malo Taumua blocked an Arizona State field-goal attempt in overtime Saturday night, giving UNLV a 23-20 win over the 13th-ranked Sun Devils.

Omar Clayton was 19-of-31 passing for 191 yards and two touchdown passes to Phillip Payne. Frank Summers picked up 103 yards on 22 rushes for the Rebels (2-1).

Rudy Carpenter connected on 13 of 23 passes for 242 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, and Kyle Williams had three receptions for 115 yards and a score for Arizona State (2-1).

The Sun Devils led 20-13 with three minutes left in regulation when UNLV drove 74 yards for a touchdown to tie the game. The drive was highlighted by Payne's fourth-down catch at Arizona State's 9-yard line -- setting up his game-tying touchdown catch two plays later.

After Kyle Watson connected on a 20-yard field goal for UNLV in overtime, Taumua blocked Thomas Weber's attempt from 35 yards to put the game away for the Rebels.
