NEW YORK, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Derek Jeter went 3-for-3 and scored a key run Saturday night to help the New York Yankees get a doubleheader split with a 6-5 win over Tampa Bay.
Jeter scored when Tampa Bay made two errors on the same play in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Wilson Betemit hit a fourth-inning solo homer. Four others had one RBI, while both Robinson Cano and Cody Ransom had two hits for the Yankees, who had lost two in a row.
The winning pitcher was reliever Damaso Marte (1-3).
Closer Mariano Rivera recorded his 34th save, despite giving up a run and two hits in the ninth.
Tampa Bay's Ben Zobrist had two hits, one a fourth-inning grand slam. Evan Longoria hit a pinch RBI single in the ninth, while Gabe Gross had three hits for the AL East-leading Rays, whose three-game winning streak ended.
The losing pitcher was reliever J.P. Howell (6-1).
