PHOENIX, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Brandon Webb finally got his 20th victory Friday and the Arizona Diamondbacks endured a scary ninth-inning before nipping Cincinnati 3-2.

Webb (20-7) had failed three times to get to the 20-win mark and Arizona had lost six in a row to fall out of the lead in the National League West. The Diamondbacks remained 3 ½ games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers, who defeated Colorado Friday.

Webb allowed five hits over eight shutout innings.

Brandon Lyon was called on in the ninth, but he loaded the bases after two were out and gave up a two-run single to Jeff Keppinger. Chad Qualls came on to replace Lyon and struck out Jerry Hairston to end the game and get his third save.

The contest was scoreless into the sixth, when David Eckstein reached on an infield single, went all the way to third on a throwing error by pitcher Aaron Harang and came in on Chris Young's single.

The Diamondbacks nursed a 1-0 lead until the eighth. Jeff Salazar, batting for Webb to start the inning, tripled and both Eckstein and Young walked to load the bases. Another walk to Adam Dunn forced in a run and a wild pitch by reliever Mike Lincoln allowed another run to score.

Harang (4-16) took the loss, even though he allowed just four hits in seven innings.
