One night after clinching the AL West title, the Angels opened a one-game lead over AL East-leading Tampa Bay for the best record in the league.
Anderson singled in the game's first run in the third and his base hit in the sixth accounted for two of the five runs the Angels scored in the inning. Vladimir Guerrero also had a two-run single in the sixth.
Seattle scored all its runs over the final two innings, one of them coming on the sixth homer of the year for Ichiro Suzuki.
Jered Weaver (11-10) allowed three hits in six scoreless innings to get the win.
Rodriguez came on in the ninth to get the save and tie Bobby Thigpen's major league record for saves in a season.
The loss went to Brandon Morrow (2-3), who gave up two runs on five hits in five innings.
