BALI, Indonesia, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Top-seeded Daniela Hantuchova struggled Friday but still reached the semifinals of the $225,000 Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic in Indonesia.

Hantuchova was pushed to a first-set tiebreaker and lost the second set before posting a 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-2 win against Yung-Jan Chan in a quarterfinal match on the hard courts at Bali's Grand Hyatt.

Hantuchova was the runner-up in the 2007 tournament in Bali and will need to get by Tamira Paszek in Saturday's semifinals to at least match that result. Paszek defeated third-seeded Flavia Pennetta 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 in her Friday match. Hantuchova and Paszek have never met in a WTA event.

The other semifinal pits second-seeded Patty Schnyder against fourth-seeded Nadia Petrova. Schnyder was a solid 6-2, 6-2 winner over Marta Domachowska and Petrova eliminated fifth-seeded Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 6-3 in the quarterfinal round.

Schnyder has won six of her 11 WTA meetings with Petrova.

Saturday's winners move into the tournament title match Sunday. The winner takes home $35,000.
