Hantuchova was the runner-up in the 2007 tournament in Bali and will need to get by Tamira Paszek in Saturday's semifinals to at least match that result. Paszek defeated third-seeded Flavia Pennetta 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 in her Friday match. Hantuchova and Paszek have never met in a WTA event.

The other semifinal pits second-seeded Patty Schnyder against fourth-seeded Nadia Petrova. Schnyder was a solid 6-2, 6-2 winner over Marta Domachowska and Petrova eliminated fifth-seeded Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 6-3 in the quarterfinal round.

Schnyder has won six of her 11 WTA meetings with Petrova.

Saturday's winners move into the tournament title match Sunday. The winner takes home $35,000.
