The White Sox missed a chance to expand their lead in the American League Central and remained one game in front of the Minnesota Twins.

The game was scoreless until the eighth, during which the teams combined for 10 runs on 11 hits.

Toronto's outburst allowed it to bounce back after having a 10-game winning streak halted Wednesday.

Chicago starter Gavin Floyd (15-7) was still on the mound to start the eighth, but he opened the inning by giving up a double to Travis Snider. Joe Inglett sacrificed Snider to third and Snider scored on a base hit by Marco Scutaro.

Alex Rios and Vernon Wells singled to fill the bases and Matt Thornton relieved Floyd. After recording a strikeout, Thornton gave up Overbay's two run single. A double by Rod Barajas delivered another run and Rolen then singled in two more.

Chicago struck back for four in its half of the eighth, the last two coming on Jim Thome's homer.

The win went to Shaun Marcum (9-6), who threw seven shutout innings before giving up Chicago's first two runs in the eighth.

B.J. Ryan picked up his 29th save by striking out the side in the ninth, although he had to throw 25 pitches to do it.
