BOSTON, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The season-ending injury incurred by New England quarterback Tom Brady involves both a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, The Boston Globe reported Wednesday.
Officials of the Patriots had declined to reveal specifics of the injury, which occurred in the first half of the team's season-opening game against Kansas City last Sunday.
The newspaper report said tests revealed no other damage to other ligaments and no torn cartilage.
Recovery from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament usually involves six to nine months of rehabilitation.
Brady has led the Patriots to three Super Bowl titles in his eight seasons with the team.
