Jenks almost let a four-run lead slip away, but the White Sox held on to stay one game in front of Minnesota in the race for the American League Central title.

A.J. Pierzynski singled in one of Chicago's two first-inning runs and had a two-run double in the sixth.

The White Sox built a 5-0 lead through seven innings, then held on after Rios hit a two-run homer in the eighth and Jenks found big trouble in the ninth.

Joe Inglett reached on a one-out single in the ninth, went to second on a walk to Scott Rolen and scored on Lyle Overbay's single. Marco Scutaro then doubled in Rolen, with Overbay going to third. Overbay came in on a groundout by Jose Bautista.

With Scutaro on third and sole possession of first place in the division on the line, Jenks got Rios to swing at a 1-2 pitch to end the game.

Mark Buehrle (13-11) allowed one run on seven hits over 7 1/3 to get the win. The loss went to Roy Halladay (18-10), who surrendered five runs on nine hits in six innings.
