
SEATTLE, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Raul Ibanez hit consecutive RBI singles Wednesday to boost the Seattle Mariners to a slim 8-7 victory against the Texas Rangers.
The hits came in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings.
The left fielder finished with four hits and three RBI.
Kenji Johjima hit a two-run second inning single.
Two others had two hits and one RBI, while Ichiro Suzuki also had four hits for the Mariners, who had lost four of their previous six games.
The winning pitcher was reliever Roy Corcoran (5-0).
Closer J.J. Putz earned his 13th save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Texas scored all of its runs on homers, with Nelson Cruz and Taylor Teagarden hitting two-run shots in the fourth, Hank Blalock a fifth inning two-run homer and Chris Davis hitting a solo shot in the eighth.
Davis and Teagarden both had two hits for the Rangers, who have split their last ten games.
The losing pitcher was starter Kevin Millwood (9-9).
