ATLANTA, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Two solo homers by Kelly Johnson and six shutout innings from James Parr Wednesday helped Atlanta to a 9-5 decision over Colorado.
Johnson homered in the first and the Braves eventually built a 4-0 lead going into the seventh.
Colorado rallied to tie it in the top of the inning, but Atlanta came back with five runs in the bottom half of the seventh, the first of which came on Johnson's second homer. Chipper Jones also hit a solo homer in the seventh and finished with three hits and three runs scored.
Despite his excellent start, Parr did not figure in the decision. Blaine Boyer gave up three runs in the sixth without retiring a batter and Jeff Bennett (3-6) picked up the win by recording the final two outs of the inning.
Reliever Luis Vizcaino (1-1) was roughed up for three runs in the seventh and took the loss.
Parr, a fourth-round draft pick in 2004, made his second major league start. In those two outings, he has allowed seven hits over 12 scoreless innings.
