SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Tim Lincecum struck out nine and logged his fifth consecutive win Monday night when the San Francisco Giants beat Arizona 6-2.
Lincecum (16-3) allowed seven hits and two runs in 8 1/3 innings for the Giants, who have won three straight.
Bengie Molina belted a three-run home run and scored on a Rich Aurilia base hit in the seventh inning.
The loss -- Arizona's fourth straight and 12th out of 16 -- cost the Diamondbacks a chance to pick up a game on the NL West-leading LA Dodgers, who lost 4-0 to San Diego Monday night. The Dodgers are 1 ½ games ahead of the D'Backs.
Pinch-hitter Jamie D'Antona drove in a run for Arizona.
Yusmeiro Petit (3-5) took the loss, allowing eight hits on five runs in 2 2/3 innings for Arizona.
