Tommie Harris' wife dies

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Cha Seung Baek went seven shutout innings and Adrian Gonzalez hit a two-run homer Monday night to lead San Diego to a 4-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Padres put an end to the Dodgers' eight-game winning streak but LA lost no ground in the NL West chase, maintaining a 1 ½ game lead over second-place Arizona after the Diamondbacks fell to San Francisco 6-2 Monday night.
Baek (5-10) allowed just three hits with two walks with two strikeouts.
Kevin Kouzmanoff drove in two runs for the Padres.
Greg Maddux (7-12) allowed all four San Diego runs, while walking two and striking out four in six innings.
Andre Ethier had three of the Dodgers four hits.
