ST. LOUIS, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Camilo Villegas shot a 3-under-par 68 Sunday and won the BMW Championship in St. Louis, his first victory on the PGA Tour.
Villegas completed the event in 15-under 265 at the Bellerive Country Club, two shots ahead of Dudley Hart, who closed with a 5-under 65.
Anthony Kim (67) and Jim Furyk (70) tied for third at 12-under 268.
"I don't know what to say," Villegas said. "It's just a lot of hard work and a lot of people behind me."
Villegas won $1.26 million.
The victory elevated Villegas to second place on the FedEx Cup playoff points race behind Vijay Singh, who placed 44th in the BMW event and has all but clinched the cup title and its $10 million top prize.
All Singh has to do to take the cup is complete four rounds in the Tour Championship, coming up in three weeks.
