MIAMI, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Brett Favre, playing his first game for the New York Jets, threw two touchdown passes Sunday in a 20-14 win over the Miami Dolphins.

The Jets escaped with the victory when Miami's Chad Pennington, the quarterback Favre replaced in New York, was intercepted by Darrelle Revis in the end zone with five seconds to play.

Favre, the longtime Green Bay quarterback who announced his retirement but changed his mind and ended up being traded to the Jets, completed 15 of 22 passes for 194 yards.

Thomas Jones carried 22 times for 101 yards for the Jets (1-0)

The Dolphins, trailing by two touchdowns, scored with 3 1/2 minutes left, got the ball back and, led by Pennington, drove to the New York 18-yard line with less than a half-minute on the clock. Pennington threw two incompletions and then was picked off by Revis.

Pennington completed 26 of 43 passes for 251 yards with two touchdowns and the interception.

Tight end Anthony Fasano hauled in eight passes for 84 yards and a touchdown for Miami (0-1).
