CARSON, Calif., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Bryan Jordan had a goal and an assist Saturday in his first Major League Soccer start, and the Los Angeles Galaxy played Real Salt Lake to a 2-2 tie.

Jordan -- a rookie who was getting playing time with LA stars David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Eddie Lewis out on international duty -- scored in the ninth minute to put the Galaxy up 1-0 and then assisted on Edson Buddle's game-tying goal in the 69th minute.

Los Angeles (6-9-8) hasn't won since June 14, but still managed to avoid taking sole possession of last place in the MLS West -- they're tied for last with FC Dallas,

Real Salt Lake (8-8-7) got a goal and an assist from Yura Movsisyan and climbed within four points of conference-leading Houston.
