NEW YORK, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Jamie Moyer gave up just two hits in seven scoreless innings Sunday and Philadelphia beat the New York Mets 6-2 in the opener of a day-night doubleheader.

The 45-year-old Moyer (13-7), the oldest player in the majors, captured his third straight decision and cut Philadelphia's deficit to one game behind the National League East-leading Mets.

Greg Dobbs's three-run, fourth-inning homer was the game's biggest blow. Three others had one RBI for the Phillies, including catcher Carlos Ruiz, who led a nine-hit attack with three hits.

New York got one RBI apiece from David Wright and Carlos Beltran. Damion Easley had two of the six hits for the Mets, who lost for just the second time in their last six games.

Losing pitcher Pedro Martinez (5-4) allowed six earned runs and seven hits in four innings.
